Caulino: "The three grand crus of Roma are Falernum, Caulinum, and Trebulanum", wrote Pliny the Elder in the 14th chapter of his treatise Naturalis Historia. Volcanic soils. Pale with some CO2 still evident; clean, fresh and fruity, banana, pineapple and apricot. Dry but not bone dry, round and fruity on the palate with the perception of sweet fruit, even if underlying acids are tart. A soft and easy-drinking wine for youthful enjoyment. Perfectly serviceable, fine little value. Tasted May 2024.
