This is quite rich and essence-like on the nose, but it doesn’t verge into overripeness. Brambleberries, smoke, elderberries and licorice make for a deep-fruited impression. The palate is brambly, but the acidity and firm web of tannins drive this nicely through to a satisfying finish. Drink in 2020.
